Introduction to Theatre
Grades 9-12 2nd Semester [ODD YEARS] 1 credit
Introduction to Theatre is a foundational theatrical arts course emphasizing theatre history, script analysis, and directing techniques. A few classic plays will be read and analyzed throughout the semester from a diverse selection of playwrights. An overview of theatre history will also be presented alongside each play, from the theatre of Ancient Greece to the modern day. Students will be asked to direct and act in several scenes from these plays as a major portion of the course grade. Near the end of the semester, focus is also given to exploring film, television, electronic media, and other theatre forms. This course is offered for elective credit.
