OnStage!
Grades 11-12 Full Year 0.5 credit
OnStage! is a program seeking to expose students to the performing arts – from theatre and dance to classical music and world culture – in the hope they gain a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Juniors and seniors from area high schools are invited to submit an essay detailing why they want to participate in OnStage! Those selected attend six varied performances during the season at Stephens Auditorium in Ames. The students are given tickets to the performances and sit in a group with students from other schools, which gives them a chance to meet and interact. Students are also usually invited to participate in special talkbacks with the performers after the show to ask questions and gain insight into what it means to be ‘On Stage.’ Students are expected to write a reflection following each performance. Please see Mr. Hackbarth and the following link for additional information.
